NEW- Opening of the arthropod zoo
They
form the most successful animal phylum of our earth,
with the biggest diversity, one millions year old
history and a huge number of biological specialities -
the arthropods.
The
inhabitants of the arthropods zoo are of full
surprises, specific features and unique impressions -
this makes the visit of this new zoo area so
suspenseful and interesting.
For
example inhabitants like the changing sheets are
masters in being deceptive and camouflaging, other as
for example arrow tail cancers already live for more
than 400 million years on our planet. Some as for
example praying mantes are famous for their rough live
concerning love; mostly the males lose their head.
About 80% of all known and today to living animal
species belong to the arthropods. Hence, they form the
most successful animal phylum of our earth with the
biggest diversity. Almost all living spaces of our
planet are full of arthropods, dry deserts or dark
caves, just as the depths of the sea and tropical rain
forests.
Arthropods are also incredibly important for the life
of other animals. On the one hand arthropods provide a
basis for many animals daily food and on the other hand
they are parasites. In the arthropods zoo you can
observe about more than 50 different kinds of
arthropods which live in close to nature formed
terrariums and are inhabited by beetles, frights,
centipedes, spiders, crabs and some more. Through
enlarged copied models of arthropods and big
information boards the visitors get informed about the
interesting life of these animals.
Especially for pupils and teachers it's a perfect
place. Important subjects from the biology lessons as
for example metamorphosis, Mimesis, mimicry, different
reproductive forms, special adaptations to living
spaces and some more can be experienced and observed
just "live" in the arthropods zoo. If one looks from a
distance of 20 cm directly at a strolling sheet and
this not yet as animals recognise, then it becomes
clear what means Mimesis (imitation to the
camouflage).
